Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Your privacy is the foundation of Archive: Document Scanner. This Privacy Policy explains how Archive handles your information. The short answer is: your documents stay on your device, and the app only uses limited networking when you choose optional online features.
Our Privacy Commitment
Archive: Document Scanner is designed with privacy as its core principle:
- No Cloud Storage for Documents: All scanned documents are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Document images and PDFs are not uploaded to our servers.
- No Accounts: No login, no registration, no user accounts.
- No Analytics: No usage tracking, no analytics SDKs, no telemetry.
- No Advertising: No ads, no ad networks, no advertising identifiers.
- Limited Network Use: Archive only connects to the internet when you open optional web content or choose to send feedback.
Information We Do NOT Collect Automatically
Archive: Document Scanner does not automatically collect, store, or transmit:
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Usage analytics or behavior tracking
- Document contents or images
- Background network activity related to your documents
Optional Feedback and Web Content
Archive includes optional online features in Settings. These are only used when you choose them:
- Send Feedback: If you submit feedback, the name, email address, message, priority, app identifier, and like count for that feedback are sent through our Netlify-hosted feedback service and stored in Notion so we can review and manage submissions.
- Remote Web Pages: The Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and More Crafter Apps screens load live web content from Crafter Apps websites inside an in-app web view.
- What never leaves your device: Your scanned documents, document images, PDF exports, and biometric-protected document content are not sent with these optional features.
Local Data Storage
All data created within Archive is stored exclusively on your device:
- Scanned Documents: Stored locally using SwiftData with external storage for images (JPEG format)
- App Settings: Stored locally using UserDefaults
- Biometric Preferences: Managed by iOS LocalAuthentication framework
This local data is included in your device's standard iCloud backup if you have device backups enabled through iOS Settings.
Biometric Data
Archive uses Face ID or Touch ID to protect individual documents. The app:
- Never accesses or stores your biometric data
- Uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework exclusively
- Only receives a success/failure result from iOS
- Does not store any biometric templates or identifiers
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data or share your scanned documents. Limited sharing only happens when you use optional online features:
- No analytics partners
- No advertising partners
- No data brokers
- Feedback submissions are processed by Netlify and stored in Notion
- Legal/about/app portfolio pages are delivered from Crafter Apps web properties
Data Deletion
Most Archive data is stored locally on your device, with one exception for optional feedback submissions:
- Delete individual documents within the app at any time
- Uninstall the app to remove all app data
- If you submitted feedback and want it removed, contact developer@crafterapps.com so we can delete the server-side feedback entry
Children's Privacy
Archive: Document Scanner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child submits feedback containing personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Apple App Store
Archive is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain data as part of the App Store experience, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Archive's App Store privacy details should stay aligned with this policy, including the optional feedback submission flow and remote legal/about web content. If the App Store listing ever differs from this policy, we will update the listing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may also be reflected in the app or on this website.
Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at developer@crafterapps.com.
Summary
Archive: Document Scanner keeps your documents on your device. Optional feedback submissions and remote web pages use limited networking, but your scans and document contents remain local. We cannot browse your document library, and we do not upload your scans behind the scenes.
