Frequently Asked Questions

How do I scan a document?

Open Archive and tap the scan button. Position your document in the camera view - edges are detected automatically. Tap the shutter or let auto-capture do the work. Add more pages or tap Save when done.

How do I protect a document with Face ID?

Open any document and tap the lock icon. Once locked, the document requires Face ID or Touch ID to view. You can unlock it the same way.

How do I export a document as PDF?

Open the document you want to export and tap the share button. The document will be exported as a PDF that you can share via AirDrop, save to Files, email, or send through any other app.

Where is my data stored?

All your documents are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. Your documents are included in your device's iCloud backup if you have device backups enabled in iOS Settings.

Can I scan multiple pages into one document?

Yes! The scanner supports multi-page documents. After capturing a page, you can add more pages before saving. All pages become part of a single document.

What iOS version do I need?

Archive requires iOS 18 or later. The app is designed to take advantage of modern iOS features and is forward compatible with future iOS versions.

Does the app cost anything?

Archive: Document Scanner is completely free. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads.

How do I delete a document?

In the document library, swipe left on any document to delete it, or open the document and use the delete option. Deleted documents cannot be recovered.
